Position Description

Job Title:  Technical Sales Engineer
FLSA Status:  Exempt
Reports To:  Director of Sales and Marketing


Position Description Summary:

The Technical Sales Engineer obtains, maintains, and expands business relationships with partners, vendors and clients. The Technical Sales Engineer will represent the entire range of company products and services to clients and leads the client through the sales process, ensuring the client’s needs and expectations are met by Applied Process, Inc.


Essential Function(s) of the Position:

The duties listed below are the specific duties and tasks that someone in this position must accomplish. These are the core responsibilities of the position.   • Establish productive, professional relationships with clients to initiate and close sales.
  • Develop innovative proposals and delivers strategic sales presentations.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives of the Company.
  • Coordinate the involvement of Company personnel as needed, works closely with Company team members to maintain high client satisfaction.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate client needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead solution development efforts that best address client needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary Company personnel.
  • Promote new business through conventions, trade shows, public relations, etc.
  • Service on professional committees is encouraged.
  • Maintain familiarity with Company products, software and services in order to discuss and explain services to prospective clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales and/or manufacturing operations required.
  • Prior experience in metallurgical or mechanical engineering, castings and/or machining is a plus; Prior experience in construction machinery and/or mining and aggregate handling equipment is also a plus.
  • Must have a valid vehicle driver’s license. This position will be required to visit customers (i.e. mines, foundries, OEMs, machine shops, etc.)
  • Industry specific contacts are a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel is required.
